A shocking meeting[]

Ahatake Kurosaki was sparring with Akiko, while Lynterria watched, when he felt a prescence. A familiar one he hadn't felt in a long time. "Come out you two." Ahatake called into the trees.

"Actually...." Ryuka's voice said, as he walked out from his spot. "It's just one. Kyashi isn't here right now." A smile crossed his face as he looked at the three.

"Long time no see." Ahatake said. "Where is Kyashi anyway?"

"Doing business back at the Kitsune Realm." Ryuka replied. "It's her new job as leader of the realm now, to watch over the kitsune that reside there."

"You mean the realm of all kitsune summonings?" Ahatake asked. "I see. Must be a lot of work."

"She has help from Zahaku and the rest of the leader kitsune, so it's not that difficult for her." The Uchiha replied, crossing his arms across his chest. It was noted that a slightly darker aura was radiating from his person, even affecting the two Kurosaki.

"I feel something from you. What's up?" Ahatake asked darkly.

Ryuka's smile faded. "Don't sound so tense, Ahatake." He said. "It's just my demonic power. You use it, after all."

"I see." Ahatake said grinning. "How about we battle for old times sake."

A slow grin came across Ryuka's face. "I was about to ask you the same thing." He admitted, shrugging slightly. "After all, what good is your own power when you're not gonna test it out?"

"Exactly, what's the point of being strong if there's nothing to hit." Ahatake agreed. "But for me Losing is not an option"

"Is that so?" Ryuka asked, shifting his neck from side to side. "Then this should be fun." He looked Ahatake in the eye. "Come at me....Ahatake Kurosaki."

The battle begins[]

Ahatake rushed at Ryuka jumped threw twelve kunai knives from each side and shuriken form the top and topped it all of with a Fire Release: Double Great Fireball Technique shooting out two fireballs with lightning speed.

However, instead of dodging, Ryuka raised one hand, swinging it and twisting around. It glowed with his yoki (demonic energy), as it sliced through the offending projectiles and stopped them in their tracks. The kunai and shuriken fell to the ground.

"Good as ever Ryuka." Ahatake said whose had barely wasted any chakra with such trivial moves.

His dark chakra faded from his hand. "I learn from the best." He replied, flexing his hand to see if it was still working. Strangely, his other arm was still hanging at his side, having not moved at all.

"Is something wrong with that arm?" Ahatake wondered. "I can just charge in blindly. I got over that a good 800 years ago." "Hey Ryuka," Ahatake yelled. "I'll give you the next move." And he fixed himself into a defensive stance.

Ryuka smirked, closing his eyes. "I bet you're wondering what's with my left arm as of right now. Don't worry. I can still fight." Then, he was gone, and in a split second, appeared behind Ahatake. Before the Kurosaki could react, Ryuka had pulled back his arm and struck him in the face, knocking him away and making him tumble.

But it was a Shadow Clone. Suddenly to hands grabbed Ryuka and dragged him underground leaving only his head sticking up. Then Ahatakle formed signs so fast only a Sharingan or Shyakugan could follow them. "Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!" and burnt Ryuka's head to cinders

As the fire cleared up, however, Ryuka, his face covered in slight ash and dirt, stared at Ahatake skeptically, virtually unharmed. Then, he smirked, bursting up through the ground, pulling himself out and flipping away, careful not to land on his hand. "Nice try." He said calmly.

But Ahatake was calm. "Not that I expected it to but why didn't it work?"

"My newfound demonic power...." Ryuka said, pointing to himself. "....is able to protect my body now. It's an sbility the Yonkou themselves were able to learn, allowing them to survive attacks that could level a village. Their greatest strength also became their greatest defense."

Ahatake channeled his own yoki (demonic energy) into his finger tips and made a whip which he attacked Ryuka with several times though never leaving any serious damage. Then he formed seals at super speed and sent a giant blast of water at Ryuka

Ryuka raised an eyebrow, then unsheathed his sword. As soon as the wave got close, he pushed his yoki into Keibatsu, then swung, unleashing a giant crescent that sliced the wave in half, turning it into a mere shower of rain. He re-sheathed his sword, letting the water splash upon him.

Ahatake luaghed manically, reminding Ryuka of one of their past battles. "This is the thrill I've been looking for the rush!" Ahatake pulled out his sword and dent a wave od diamond spears at Ryuka.

"Just like old times..." Ryuka thought, as he disappeared once again, the diamon spears missing. Wham! Whumpf! P-pow! Several blows rained down upon Ahatake before he could react, yet once he tried to focus on Ryuka, nothing was there. "You see..." Ryuka's voice said, as he continued attacking Ahatake, even drawing blood. "You're not the only one that's improved yourself."

But then Ryuka was punching water. Ahatake substituted himself with some water from a nearby lake and dissapeared. All Ryuka could hear was a "Tap Tap Tap" sound all around but didn't know where Ahatake was.

"I see," Lynterria thought watching the battle. "He would use that childish move."

Suddenly Ahatake popped up of nowhere and struck Ryuka with eight punches and six kicks and dissapeared again with the sound "Tap Tap Tap".

Though the punches did only minor damage, the force of them still made him stagger back. He put two fingers a few inches away from his mouth. He closed his eyes, focusing. Then, he felt Ahatake speeding at him again, and grabbed his offending wrist before it could connect. "I hope you're not attempting to copy my abilities, Kurosaki." He said mockingly, smiling to annoy Ahatake. "That wouldn't be very professional of you, would it?"

Tightening the grip on Ahatake's wrist, he followed up with a knee to his gut. Releasing his wrist, he followed up with a backhanding uppercut, sending Ahatake on his back. "If this is the best you can do..." He said softly. "Then I guess I won't have to use it, will I?"

Ahatake got up and he was barely gazed. Lynterria smiled and Akiko watched on intently. "You think I would copy you?" Ahatake asked. "C'mon you know me better than that. Then again," Ahatake said in mock thoughtfulness. "1,000 years does have an effect on the brain." Ahaatke channeled his yoki into his Zanpakutou and sent a mighty blow at Ryuka with such speed he was unable to dodge or lift his sword.

A battle of demons[]

Ryuka's eyes widened, as he could only thrust his hand out, catching the blade. It dug into his hand, but he tried not to let the pain show. "Damn those blind foxes for burning off my other arm..." He thought, annoyed. Tightening his grip, he jerked the blade from Ahatake's hands, tossing it away.

"Fighting an unarmed person with a weapon....is not honorable." He said, with a mild tone of innocence in his voice, as he raised his injured hand to wag his finger at Ahatake. "But, then again, I haven't gotten serious. And from the looks of things, neither have you."

"I see. All right then" Ahatake pressed his middle and index finger together and was surrounded by red yoki. "Well," Ahatake said. "This isn't even a third of my power. Bring out some of yours." Ahatake used a yoki whip to call his blade back and sheathed it.

Ryuka chuckled. The white and onyx of Ryuka's eyes became black and yellow, as he stared at Ahatake. "This is also the third of a power of a beast that resides within me. You should be honored, Kurosaki, to be the first to experience a Hollow's power."

"A Hollow?" Ahatake asked. "In all my thousand years of life I have never seen one before. This will be a real treat. But first here." Ahatake tossed Ryuka a healing bean. "Remember these? Akiko's powers have advanced so much these can bring the dead back to life. Eat it and it will heal your arm."

Ryuka resisted the urge to laugh, as he caught the bean. "You can't heal something...." He then pulled up his sleeve. To Ahatake's horror, instead of an arm, there was nothing but a miniature stump. "....that isn't there. And I've lost it longer than this meeting ever began."

"Ryuka," Ahatake said despite his revulsion. "As long as there is a bit left that bean can bring it back. I won't fight you with such a handicap."

As Ryuka put his arm back down, his eyes widened at Ahatake's comment, and he started laughing. "What's the matter, Kurosaki?" He taunted, as he slapped a hand to his forehead. "I've already shown you I can fight with one arm still usable." He walked sideways a bit, although still keeping his current distance to Ahatake.

"Or after all these years....have you made yourself to become a coward?" His tone held no mirth at that statement. "If so....then you aren't even worth batting an eyelash at." He said, his tone mildly colder.

"I see." Ahatake said his tone ice. "You are part of my family. I try to help you and you call me a coward." Ahatake aura grew wider, showing his power and anger. "Eat the bean or throw it away your choice."

A frown came across Ryuka's face, as he tossed the bean aside. "You're going to have to realize, Ahatake...." He whispered, his tone less harsh as he pulled out Keibatsu. "That sometimes, you will have to grasp the hand of darkness....in order to save the people you love." The slightest bit of sadness was in his tone, but he gazed at Ahatake with an intense feel. "Now COME!" He shouted.

Rage flowing through his body he told Akiko to create a barrier around Lynterria and herse;f."Oh damn." Akiko thought. "Nii-sama is going to use it." She cerated a barrier around herslef and Lynterria as Ahatake ordered and Ryuka was mauled by many Shadow Clones. "Fire Release: Great Devastation!" And Ahatake sent a huge ball of flame chakra at Ryuka who didn't notice because of the clones and it exploded competely leveling the area around them.

As the dust cleared, Ryuka's yoki erupted from his body, destroying the clones. He was covered in ash, as he shook himself off, once again unharmed. "Was that your best shot?" He mused. "I know you can do better than a simple fireball."

"Nice," said Ahatake, tone still icey from the bean being rejected. Akiko let down the sheild, shocked that Ryuka survived that.

Ahatake took the stance of the Strong Fist and dissapeared from sight with the "Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap" only to reappear with the Kagebuyo, and kicked Ryuka up but didn't follow behind instead he appeared from the from and shot a large fireball at close range.

Ryuka thrusted his hand out, his yokai forming from his hand in the form of an orb. It stopped the fireball in its tracks, as he glared at Ahatake. "Do not let your emotions get the best of you." He said, as a beam of yoki erupted from his hand, blasting Ahatake high into the air.

"Cero."

He landed on the ground on his feet, while Ahatake slammed into it ungracefully. "Even if the initial blast didn't weaken him..." He thought. "The fall would be enough to shatter his leg bones." His Hollow Mask started to materialize, appearing on the left side of his face.

Ahatake got up he felt the pain in his leg but it was healing. "My attacks can barely reach you. I must be getting old."

Ryuka stared at him, eyes gazing. "Haven't I told you before?" He asked, a small smile on his face. "I learn from the best." He picked up his sword, which he had dropped when he had formed the Cero attack, and sheathed it.

" I see. Start getting serious." Ahatake said an aura of a dog forming. "Or I'll kill you."

Ryuka merely looked on, the smile growing to a smirk. "There is only one man that I will unleash my full power against...." His eyes widened into a slightly maniacal look, as he flashed in front of Ahatake, uppercutting him in the jaw. "But he is certainly not YOU!"

"I see." Ahatake said. "But you've been standing in the sun without your hat on for way too long if you think you'll beat me with anything less than your full power." And he shot a One-Tailed Destruction Ball (a stronger version of the One-Tailed Strong Ball) at Ryuka.

"What the..." Ryuka's eyes widened, as he extended his hand out. "The fool! We're too close!" He braced himself, as the immediate blast of energy was forced back, but the rest sent both him and Ahatake in opposite directions. Ryuka flipped on his feet, breathing slightly heavier than normal. The Hollow Mask had completely formed on his face, and he grimaced. He glanced at Akiko and Lynterria, distantly wondering what their own reactions to this increasingly intense fight.

Akiko was watching intently, and Lynterria had an exasperated expression on her face wondering why Ahatake wou;d even use a technique like that when he was so close to the aftershock.

But when Ahatake got up it was with his usual psycotic grin. He disspeared with the "Tap Tap Tap" noise and appeared with a One-Tailed Great Ball Rasengan and aimed it at Ryuka's gut and sent him flying. "This is bad." Ahatake thought. "He's stronger than ever and doesn't seem to tire."

Ryuka closed his eyes, as he flew far back, but he flipped around, landing on his feet and using horrifying speed, striking Ahatake with blows of his fist before he could react. Then he stopped at one point, bringing his knee up into Ahatake's ribs, with enough force to hear a grimly satisfying crack. He followed up with a powerful kick, tossing Ahatake away and causing him to roll like a tumbleweed.

Ahatake got up panting and his ribs were healing, and his tail increased in size. "DAMN!" He thought. "If only I could use Bankai. But my Zanpakutou's spirit is too stubborn." Ahatake sent a wave of red energy at Ryuka from all sides with surprising speed.

Ryuka narrowed his eyes. "Oh, GREAT. Now I'M starting to tire!" He snapped in his head. Overall, his vicious and relentless attacks on Ahatake's person was now taking their toll on him. He forced himself to release another burst of chakra, forcing away the energy and cancelling each other out.

He coughed up a bit of blood, turning to look Ahatake in the eye. "I'll give you this much..." He said, panting. "You've managed to distract me from the fact that my own exhaustion was getting to me."

"So will you release your full power on me?"

Ryuka smirked. "If you wish...." He pulled himself up to his feet, as he unsheated and swirled his sword around in the air. A large amount of yoki was being channeled, forming what seemed to be circular streams of yoki wind.

"As usual...." He said quietly. "We end this. With one final attack."

"Like our last battle all those years ago...". Ahatake channeled very bit of energy he had chakra and yoki, into his sword which glowed a myriad of colours. "Let's go."

He and Ryuka ran at each other swords armed like before and when they clashed there was a explosion enough to shake the heavens.

When the dust and smoke cleared, both combatants stood facing away from each other, a few distance away. First, Ryuka staggered one step forwards, as incredible pain racked his body. He shut his eyes and clenched his teeth slightly. "I....I won't fall!" He thought, angered.

However, behind him where Ahatake stood, the sound of someone collapsing came to his ears. He slowly turned around.

Ahatake was on the ground with blood coming from him. After a struggle he managed to get up. "I... I...lost." Ahatake said caughing up blood. "You.. win.." Akiko ran over to give each of them a healing bean to give them their strength back. Ahatake ate it and stood up good as new.

Ryuka sighed, as this time, he ate the bean. A sickening sound was heard, as his the bone, muscle and nerve in his stumped arm started to regrow back into place. Once it had finished, he slowly flexed it until he was sure that it was working again.

"I apologize, Ahatake." He said quietly.

"For what?" Ahatake asked

"For calling you a coward." His eyes drifted sideways slightly. "It was unnecessary of me, and foolish." He then looked into Ahatake's eyes. "But when you said that you wouldn't fight me with only one arm, I got a bit angry. I thought you were only looking down on me."

"I wasn't looking down on you, Ryuka. I look out for family." Ahatake said.

A smile came across Ryuka's face. "Thanks." Was all he could say.

Ahatake grinned. "Too bad Kyashi wasn't here to witness your first victory over me."

Ryuka raised an eyebrow. "You make it sound like you won two times." He said.

"I wish." Ahatake said. "My first victory over you was along time ago. Way back in that tournament"

Ryuka rolled his eyes. "You only caught me off-guard with that genjutsu of yours." He scratched his head with his free hand, while the blade of Keibatsu rested on his shoulder. "I should've just reversed it back at you."

"You never expected genjutsu did you?" Ahatake asked

"Not at that point...." Ryuka replied. "I thought you were only relying on just your demon chakra."

"Hmmm... I see." Ahatake said. "Well either way we have to get back to our training."

At that statement, Ryuka nodded, pivoting slightly on his toe and starting to walk off. "Good luck....you're going to need it."

"1,000 years ago a comment like that would have made me punch you." Ahatake said. "Well say Hi to Kyashi for us. We'll meet again. Who knows if it'll be in the next thousand years but we'll see you again."

Ryuka chuckled. "We may see each other even sooner than that...." He replied. With a few steps, he disappeared, having used Flash Step once again.

"I'll see you Ryuka. Don't expect me to lose next time."

"C'mon Akiko. Our trainings not done."

"Right! Let's go Nii-sama."

And Ahatake and Akiko started training again and while one thousand years may have changed Ahatake's skills, his spirit has not wavered....

THE END
