Meeting[]
Ryun arrived on Shadow Island. "Man it's been awhile." Ryun said.
Ryun looked behind him where Mizu stood, "What now?" Ryun asked sternly.
Mizu was sitting on the ground sipping an iced coffee he picked up in the previous town. He then said, "First of all, don't speak to me in that tone, brat. Second, I'd say that you better hit tose targets I set up." He then pointed to the targets layed ut in the area. They were in impossible areas, that only a Sharingan could analyze and hit. He then said, "Don't use any chakra or ocular jutsu for this. Just throw kunai from the area you are standing at to hit the targets." He continued to sip his coffee.
Ryun pulled out a few kunai. He then tossed them at different angles, they bounced off each other and struck each target in the center. "What was the point of that?" Ryun asked.
Mizu then threw a hard stone at Ryun's head. "You missed 5 of the other targets." He stood up and threw some kunai. They hit every target, without any effort from Mizu being displayed, "You idiot, that was easy as breathing in and out." He then looked to Ryun, "I don't feel like punishing you now, seeing as I wasn't clear. The point of this is to be aware of your surroundings. Now this time, do it again until you can do it without even knowing you did it." He returned to his original spot.
Ryun frowned but did what he was told. It took him hours, but soon he could do it without even thinking about it and with little effort. He turned back to Mizu, "There, I did it." Ryun's eyes bore into Mizu's. "Are you happy now?"
Mizu looked around a few time then said, "Good, now to the next exercise." He then noticed Ryun's Shadow Blade at his waist. Mizu then asked, "Can you use Shikai, Bankai, and Shukai on your Shadow Blade?"
Ryun nodded, "Yes I can."
Mizu frowned, "Show me."
Ryun un-sheathed his sword and focused, "BAN-KAI!!!!" Ryun yelled unleashing a torrent of energy. Ryun then focused and whispered, "Shukai!". His power increased even further. When he finished he added, "I can also go beyond Shukai and do Tenkai.
Mizu clapped mockingly, "Good for you. Know how much I care about the last one? Zippo. While you are on Shadow Island, you have to release the same amount of power that is exerted in your Shikai, in your Shadow Blade's unreleased form, just to survive."
Ryun looked puzzled, "Say what!?"
"Alright, I won't say this again so listen closely," said Mizu. "Each Shadow Blade has 4 names, 5 if you count that Tenkai, or Senkai. The unreleased form is your Shadow Blades true name. In your case it would be Tentouken. For me it's Tenmatatsujin. The Shikai would be an extension of the name, so that's why Hikaru's Shikai is Shinsei Gyakujoukusariken, instead of just it's normal name. The same goes with Bankai and Shukai. In escence, you Shikai sounds like a Bankai, and is nearly equal in power to a normal Bankai. That is, if you've trained the same way me or Hikaru have, which you haven't."
"Alright, I'm listening." Ryun said.
Mizu sighed, "Under normal circumstances, the training that Hikaru and I endured took us at least 14 months, but your going to master it in 2 months."
Ryun nodded. "Alright, show me what to do."
Mizu then drew his sword and said, "Rise From Hell, Tenmatatsujin." He then said, "Claim Your Title, Saikou Tenmatatsujin." He faced Ryun, and said, "For the next two months, you will have to face me in Shikai, without having your sword go any higher than it's unreleased form."
Two Months...[]
Ryun grinned, "Very well, lets go." Ryun said preparing to attack.
Mizu easily dodged Ryun's attack and slashed him on his back. Ryun fell to the ground. "Oh, and by the way, you can't use your chakra for this, and I'm not using it either. This is a test of going beyond the limits."
Ryun nodded and the two engaged in heated combat.
Mizu still dodged each attack with ease. He often knocked Ryun to the ground. "Come on, is that all you've got? I have no special rank, and yet I'm beating you easily. Just try to cut me." These were some of the things Mizu often said to Ryun to antagonize him.
The Ten Tails within Ryun stirred. Ryun's strength and speed tripled and Ryun struck. Ryun's slashes became unpredictable and he eventually cut Mizu's arm.
Mizu looked at the cut, then he smacked Ryun with a sheetmetal fan. "You're not supposed to use your chakra." He slashed on Ryun's side, and the cursemark for Death's Sting appeared.
Ryun's eyes began to slit, "Yo...u aren't hel..ping your...self." Ryun said standing, "That wasn't chakra, it was the natural reaction of my beast when I'm in danger. I'll feel sorry for you if you wake it any further." Ryun threatened pointing his blade at Mizu.
Mizu wasn't scared. "I don't care. You have to learn to supress the instinct. The point of this exercise is to stay alive, without resorting to all your powers. Besides, if you lose control, I can handle a tailed beast." He then swatted the sword away. "Get up. I have my power synced with your level, so why can't you cut me?"
Ryun forced the fox back and grabbed his sword. He then continue to spar with Mizu and finally with one large thrust, cut Mizu across the chest.
Mizu smiled demonically, "Good. But that wasn't enough. That wasn't a slash meant to kill. You have to try to kill me Ryun." He then said, "If you don't, I'll have to use some methods I'd just hate to do."
Ryun snapped, "THAT'S IT!!!! SHUT UP!!!" Ryun yelled swinging his blade, which shocked Mizu and cut him deep into his shoulder.
Mizu laughed maniacally, "Good, but your power isn't focused, LEAVING IT SESCEPTIBLE TO ATTACK!" He slashed Ryun, leaving Ryun with a deep gash.
Ryun's wound began to regenerate and Ryun forced the chakra back. Ryun then continued to attack and eventually cut Mizu yet again and this time he cut with all his might.
Mizu continued to laugh, "Heh, so there is hope for you yet, kid." He stopped for a moment and sheathed his sword.
Ryun was huffing, "What next, Mizu..." Ryun asked.
"That's enough for today," said Mizu. "I don't want you to die from multiple sword wounds. You can heal yourself if you want."
3 weeks later[]
Mizu was sitting on a boulder near the entrance to Shadow Island. Ryun was lying on the ground healing his wounds. Mizu thought to himself, Ryun barely has gotten enough power in these three weeks. He looked to where Ryun was. I'll admit, he's gotten stronger, and faster, but not enough. He looked to the stars and said, "What should I do Hikaru? Ryun hasn't even gotten to what his power should be after all this time." He then said, "Heh, maybe I can really motivate him."
The Next Day[]
Mizu smirked and said, "Alright, seeing as you've made little progress, I've decided to motivate you a bit." He pointed to a tree where Luke Uchiha was tied up.
The beast within Ryun again stirred, "Boy..give it to me..put all of your pain on me..." the voice told him. Ryun doubled over in shock as chakra overcame him.
Mizu shouted, "NO!!! YOU MUST FIGHT WITH YOUR OWN POWER!!!"
Ryun looked up with hatred at Mizu, forcing back the beast within him. In his eyes formed the Mangekyo Sharingan. Ryun lept up and vanished as he charged at full speed, slamming into Mizu with such force that the latter was knocked off balance. Ryun spin-kicked his opponent and then focused a great amount of chakra into his left eye. His eye began to bleed and Amaterasu consumed Mizu. "Disappear with the thunder." Ryun said as he unleashed a powerful Raitama Storm on the battlefield.
Mizu sighed and said, "Hate to do this..." He stood up and held his blade high. "Fine then, we can fight this way...BANKAI!!!" Dark energy swirled around Mizu, as the hellish armor formed around him. He then looked at Ryun with hate in his red eyes. "You'd better not die on me kid..." He then said the name of his Shadow Blade, "Makaishinko Tenmatatsujin."
Ryun stood in a whirlwind of chakra that was his own. His Mangekyo eyes then turned into the famed Kagirinaigan. He held his hand high above his head and charged the Raikireme in his palm. Then he quickly dropped his palm to the ground, causing a small crater to form. He charged at Mizu at incredible speeds and crashed into Mizu's right shoulder.
Mizu looked at the wound to see green chakra cover it. "What's that?" He returned his attention to the battle, and sliced Ryun diagonally.
Ryun payed no attention to the green chakra, and used his free arm to punch Mizu in the face. He then leaped up and planted his foot into Mizu's face, then kicking off with the other foot, he flipped behind Mizu and grabbed Mizu's hair. He then spun Mizu around by his hair and tossed him into a tree.
Mizu noticed that the attack had not even fazed him. Although, he was still being healed by the green chakra. He then heard a voice say, DO NOT LET THIS CHILD DEFEAT YOU MIZU!!! Mizu sighed and thought, The Negative Ten Tails...of course... He got up and then charged at Ryun, trapping him against a boulder. He then said, "Get a hold of yourself kid..."
Ryun allowed the black chakra to seep through seal. The physical traits of the fox were still visible from his earlier transformation. A tornado of black chakra spiraled around Ryun. The chakra was in a spiral at least fifty feet tall. At the top, the face of the fox had been formed in all of it's menacing qualities. Ryun dropped into a low stance allowing a menacing grin to slip onto his face.
Mizu sighed and said, "Geez, at least I'm not an idiot like that Haku kid was when he fought Naruto." He looked around to see if anyone else was watching. He then said, "I think you might be ready to take on the trials of Shadow Island, but there's one more thing you must do Ryun." He pointed one of his swords at Luke. "You must learn to be controlled in any situation in front of you. Show less control, and you might stoop to the same level as Sasuke Uchiha did."
Ryun nodded, "Thats what your here for. Teach me control. In every stressing or emotional situation, this beast starts to gain a stronger and stronger control over my mind and emotions." Ryun scratched his chin, "The physical traits of the beast always appear whenever even the slightest anger enters my mind. Of course I can retain consciousness up to three-tails..but after that no chance. You thoughts?" Ryun asked turning his attention to Mizu.
Mizu looked at Ryun and said, "Oh...I didn't need to go into Bankai then. I thought you'd lost control completly..." Mizu had a red aura appear around him, and he reverted to his normal form. His sword also returned to it's Shikai form. "In that case, you'll just have to learn not to let the fox take over." He walked up to Ryun and tossed a kunai to where Luke was tied up. The knife cut the ropes, and Luke was free. Mizu then said, "If this is the case, you made this a whole helluva lot easier."
